Terms of Use

Last updated August 14, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Surettech, a sole proprietorship of Jeff Surette based in Massachusetts, USA (“Famileats,” “we,” or “us”), for using the Famileats app and website. By using Famileats, you agree to these terms.

What Famileats does

Famileats is a planning aid for family dinners, packed lunches, portions, and grocery lists. It suggests a week using a curated recipe library, household preferences, schedules, and ratings. You remain responsible for deciding what to buy, prepare, serve, and eat.

Who may use it

Famileats is intended for adults who plan food for a household. It is not directed to children, and children should not use it without an adult. If you enter information about another person, including a child, you confirm that you have permission to do so and are responsible for keeping it accurate.

Allergies, dietary rules, and food safety

Famileats applies the allergy, dietary, and aversion filters you set to the ingredient information in its recipe and lunch library. Those filters are a planning safeguard, not a medical service or a guarantee that a meal or packaged product is free of an allergen. Ingredient labels, formulations, substitutions, restaurant practices, and cross-contact risks can change or fall outside the app's data.

Always check current product labels and ingredient lists, avoid unsafe substitutions, and use the precautions recommended by your medical professional. Do not rely on Famileats for diagnosis, treatment, emergency guidance, or individualized medical or nutritional advice.

Recipes and portions

Recipes, cooking times, temperatures, portion estimates, and storage suggestions are provided for general planning. Kitchens, ingredients, equipment, and individual needs vary. Use safe food-handling practices, verify doneness with appropriate tools, and adjust portions and methods for your household.

AI-assisted planning

Famileats may use an AI service to rank eligible recipes for your week. The AI selects from the curated library after on-device filtering; it does not replace your judgment. AI-assisted results can still be incomplete, unsuitable, or wrong. Review a plan before relying on it. See the Privacy Policy for what a planning request contains.

Purchases and subscriptions

If Famileats offers a paid purchase or subscription, Apple processes the transaction under your Apple Account. The price, billing period, trial terms, renewal terms, and included features will be shown before purchase. You can manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple Account settings. Except where law requires otherwise, refunds are handled under Apple's policies.

App license

Your license to the iOS app is governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement unless the App Store product page identifies a custom license. These terms supplement that license for the Famileats service and website.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • Use Famileats for anything unlawful or to harm another person.
  • Try to defeat its security, overload its services, or access systems you are not authorized to use.
  • Scrape, copy, resell, or commercially exploit the app, recipe library, or website without permission.
  • Misrepresent Famileats output as medical advice or a guarantee of allergen safety.

Our content

Famileats' software, design, illustrations, original recipes, and editorial content are owned by Surettech or used with permission and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Any personal license is limited, non-transferable, and for household use.

Third-party services

Optional features may interact with services operated by Apple, Anthropic, or another provider. Their terms and privacy practices apply to their services. We are not responsible for a third-party service's availability or actions, but we will accurately disclose the providers Famileats uses.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Famileats is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or that every plan, recipe, grocery quantity, filter, or recommendation will be complete or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Surettech will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from Famileats. Our total liability for a claim relating to Famileats will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for Famileats in the 12 months before the claim or USD $100. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Changes and availability

Famileats is evolving, so features may change or be discontinued. We may update these terms; if we make a material change, we will update the date above and provide additional notice where appropriate. Continuing to use Famileats after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing a claim, please email us and allow 30 days to try to resolve the issue informally. Any unresolved dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
